Just found this great Apple Technote #1126:

A Checklist for Building Applications and Extensions

It goes into quite some detail what to look out for and jobs to do to make an app run well.

Just a reminder that over a year ago, I took tech note 1126 and put things from the FB programmers point of view in the FB Debugging FAQ sheets.
